User Reviews Summary
Sony SS-B1000 User Opinions Summary:
-
Sony SS-B1000 are small and inexpensive bookshelf speakers. They are perfect, used a surround speakers. The SS-B1000 need an amplifier, at least 40 Watts RMS per channel. The speakers deliver sharp, crisp, clear sound, and even rich and detailed bass.

What do people say
I love the convenience of small speakers but I expected a trade-off of convenience for sound quality. Well, these Sony speakers are impressive in spite of their small size. There’s a rounded, glamorous sheen to the sound they produce, over the full frequency range. The bass is rich and detailed, not booming or exaggerated. The dynamic range is expansive, handling big climaxes without popping or distortion. Recordings sound more naturally warm and even old mono recordings have noticeably more body. Without a comparison, it’s hard to say how much breadth of sound I’m giving up by not having larger speakers (the Sony SSB-3000, say) but these little wonders are entirely satisfying in their own right. In sum, these are speakers an audiophile could live with.

For music the surrounds sound crystal clear on everything from symbol to sax to bass guitar to electric guitar, etc. Very good, solid music reproduction. Doesn’t have any punch in the lows, but, it’s a small woofer, it’s not supposed to. You can hear the bass, but just can’t feel it from such a small woofer and with them being mounted up on the walls. When placed on the ground or on stands and used as fronts they are absolutely surprising. Just so much rich sound out of such small and cheap speakers.
