Nike Mercurial Vapor IV FG User Reviews Summary:
Pros
- Mercurial Vapor IV is superlight.
- The heel counter works so well that, if you get kicked you can’t even feel it, also the heel pads work.
- They look very good.
- There’s great agility and taking off and stopping quickly.
- These boots are truly made for fast forwards, they make you ‘fly’ in the pitch.
- It has perfect balance for dribbling with the ball at a full sprint.
- The softness of the Teijin allows for incredible feel and control of the ball especially for the delicate little touches on a ball taken out of the air, when flicking a ball, or tricky footwork running at a defender.
- Shooting with this shoe is fantastic the clean strike surface makes powershots stay true to goal.
- The cleat patter provides traction and enables you to accelerate in any direction.
- This boot gives you a bigger striking area and a great fit.
- Because they have few seams, they’re great for wet weather because water doesn’t seep in.
- On average the shoe lasts about 1.5-3 seasons with proper care.
Cons
- Get dirty easily.
- The lace cover is not the most durable part of the shoe.
- It is tough to get my foot into the shoe itself it takes work and pressure to slip my foot in, and the insole slides around when coming to a quick stop and kind of crunches under my toes.
- Get scuffs.
- The Vapor is a narrow shoe that is not made for everyone.
It should be tried on first before purchased and should fit snug throughout with half a thumbs width left in front of the big toe. - Mercurial Vapor IV runs a half size larger than the size that it is listed at. i.e.
- At the beginning they can give you blisters. Breaking in takes 1-1 1/2 months.
Blisters Solutions:
-
- Put moleskin on back.
-
- Double up on socks: one normal pair and one football pair.
-
- Get a ankle brace for both your ankles and wear it upside down and over your soccer sock.
-
- Put a Band aid over it and then cover it with tape.
-
- Fold a piece of PRE-WRAP TAPE in half and place it over the ball of your heel.
-
- Put duct tape on your heels.
