Klipsch Image S4i User Opinion Summary:
-
Klipsch Image S4i is a very nice looking headset, with handy controls. It supplies complete noise isolation, and is comfortable. But reviews on sound quality are mixed. There is one tip though, you have to find the right size eartip for you to judge the sound quality.

What do people say
Some Positive
One word or warning that you will see in many of the reviews: if you have never used IEMs (In-Ear-Monitors aka sound isolating earphones) – they take some getting used to. You need to make sure to get a good seal in you ear for them to work well, if they’re lacking bass it’s probably because you don’t have a good seal. They really do block out pretty much all noise so make sure to look both ways before crossing the road

The first and most important thing is sound quality. The highs are great(when listening to certain songs, I heard hi-hats and tambourines that i had previously not heard), mid range is excellent and the low mids are impressive. However, what sold me the most was the bass response. The bass is there, without being too powerful, but when I wanted some brainthumping bass, I turned the EQ on my iPod to “Bass Booster”, and I was blown away. These little headphones pack a punch, that’s for sure. Bass that can’t be replicated by my Infinity 6 x 8′s in my car was played with ease, and with little distortion.

Some Negative
I waited a long time to get iPhone functionality from a company that makes some of the best speakers in the world. The S4i’s could not get comfortable in my ears. The high end is over emphasized to the point of being harsh. None of the internal EQ settings would get rid of this harshness. Klipsch could have tuned these for the crappy EQ of the iPhone. Until the iPhone implements the complete Bluetooth protocol including Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP), I will have to wait.

My first impression was not a good one. I put on a jazz album (played through my iPhone, of course) and noticed immediately that the highs sounded tinny and that the bass was lacking. Then my brother pointed out to me that if I tried the larger ear tips it might help. It did, immensely. The sound quality is actually quite impressive when you have a good seal between the ear piece and your ear.
The only other caveat is that the mic is placed too far down on the earphones and therefore too far away from your mouth, making it difficult for people with whom you are speaking to hear you when there is background noise.
