The main question on most peoples mind is how good the vacuum actually is. So is it any good? I have to admit that it’s superb. It isn’t completely flawless, but it’s not far from it. When first using the Roomba on a carpet I always need to let it run twice as it tends to miss dirt on the first clean. However, once a carpet has had an initial two cleaning cycles, only the one is needed each time after. A cleaning cycle takes around 45 minutes for an average size room (13ft2) and it is capable of cleaning 3 rooms in one cycle before a recharge and empty is needed. Cliff avoidance sensors prevent the vacuum from tumbling down the stairs. Read full review
iRobot Roomba Review
Overall, I’d say the Roomba does a fantastic job of keeping hard-surfaced floors, such as ceramic tile and vinyl, clean. If you despise having to sweep your kitchen floor daily, I can’t say enough good things about the Roomba.
For carpet, I’d have to say that the Roomba does a pretty good job. I can’t say it does an excellent job because I’ve run my Roomba on my living room floor before and then immediately ran my regular upright vacuum and was still able to get a lot more cat hair up. However, I wouldn’t look at the Roomba as a replacement for your current vacuum. I would instead recommend you use the Roomba as a supplement to your regular vacuum cleaner, as it will do a great job of picking up most small particles that accumulate on your carpet each day. iRobot Roomba 530 Review
At the end of the day, even though there are still some imperfections I’m still a firm believer of the Roomba. I love not having to lug my Miele up the stairs. I love having my floors tidied up every day like clockwork. I love knowing I can be dusting and straightening up the house while my faithful bot is cleaning my floors. I look forward to future bots as they get better and better. Read full review
