Creative Labs Vado HD (2nd Gen) 8GB Pocket Camcorder is smaller than a cellphone. It produces good quality video in a well lit environment, is easy to use, even a 6 year old can. The camcorder features a rechargeable battery, 8GB of internal memory and a large viewing screen.

I rate this Creative VADO HD a five-star performer. Why? Because I bought it for my 70 year old mother [a complete technophobe] who wanted a video camera to keep me up to date on her gardens and her life. With virtually no guidance, Mom was Video-documenting her daily life. If her 10 year old Volvo had a strange noise, I was suddenly sent a Volvo video from Mom asking my advice. If the dog was sleeping close to the mangy cat – I was sent a “isn’t this cute” video. When the city decided to change an intersection, Mom was there documenting the shoddy work to show/email the city supervisors. Spectacular sunsets on the beach? Mom’s got her VADO in her pocket.

The Creative Labs Vado HD camcorder performs as advertised. It is small, easy to use and transfers video easily to the computer. My daughters (8 and 6) use this camera and love it. It is tough to get a good image in low light, but not awful. It has not taken over preferred status from our Flip Video camcorder because the Flip was here first and the Flip software is ingrained in them already (and it’s more intuitive). However, it may take over based on the fact that the Flip’s batteries die seemingly every week. The Vado’s rechargeable battery is a huge plus as is the included HDMI cable. FYI – The silicon skin didn’t last 1 minute on the camera. Literally, ONE minute before the girls had that thing off. “Too ugly and bulky”.
